ACC sues 7 Sylhet RHD engineers, contractor on graft charge

Dhaka: The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has filed a case against seven current and former engineers of Sylhet Roads and Highways Department (RHD) and a contractor for embezzling Tk 1.13 crore.
ACC deputy director Mohammad Farid Ahmed Patwary filed the case with Kotwali Police Station on Tuesday.
The accused are RHD deputy assistant engineer Md Masum Ahmed, former deputy assistant engineer Md Anawar Hossain, former deputy divisional engineers Abul Barakat Mohammad Khursid Alam and Md Tanveer Ahmed, former executive engineer Sheikh Monirul Islam, superintendent engineer Chandan Kumar Basak, former additional chief engineer Iftekhar Kabir and Lutfar Rahman, owner of construction firm M/S Janmabhumi Nirmata.
According to the case statement, the accused in connivance with each other misappropriated Tk 11,323,416 from the Sunamganj-Sylhet regional highway repair project showing incomplete work complete.
