Rajshahi: A secondary education officer of Chatmohar upazila was sent to jail on Wednesday as he allegedly consumed addictive syrup, Phensedyl at Moktarpur of Charghat upazila in the district.

The detainee is Saidur Rahman, Secondary Education Officer of Chatmohar upazila in Pabna.

Earlier on Tuesday, acting on a tip-off, police conducted a drive and arrested Saidur while he was consuming Phensedyl, said officer-in-charge of Charghat Model Police Station Nazrul Islam.

Saidur was sent to jail after producing him before a trial court here, he said.
