Habiganj: Amid huge outcry over the killing of teenage girl Beauty after rape in Sayestaganj upazila on March 17, a 3-member probe committee has been formed to investigate into the incident.

Bidhan Tripura PPM, superintendent of Police of the district, formed the committee on Thursday with additional superintendent of police (administration) as its head, reports the UNB.

The committee has been asked to submit report within three working days.

According to the case statement, Beauty, daughter of Sayed Ali, was raped by one Babul Miah of the village on January 21. When victim’s father went to Sayestaganj Police Station to filed a case the thana authority asked him to go to court.

Later, the victim’s family members filed the case with Woman and Children Repression Prevention Tribunal on March 4.

Later, the court ordered the officer-in-charge of the police station to take legal action.

As Babul Miah started to threaten Beauty’s family members after filing of the case, she was sent to her grandfather’s house at Gunipur village in Lakhai upazila. She went missing from the house on March 16.

Police recovered her body from the haor area in Sayestaganj upazila on March 17.

Later, a murder case was filed with Sayestaganj Police Station.

The incident created a widespread outcry among people when a photograph of the victim’s body lying on a field went viral on Facebook.
