Rajshahi: Police detained a private bank officer from Rajshahi University campus on Thursday night over harassing a female student.

The victim student alleged that Md Shahin Mirza, in his twenties, a cash officer of a private bank here, had been sending messages on her Messenger for the last few days and offered her to engage in an affair with him.

Later, she asked him to meet her at the campus.

When Shahin appeared at the campus in the evening, the victim student along with his friends caught him in front of Rabindra Bhaban and handed him over to police around 8:00pm after a thrashing.

Later, police admitted him to Rajshahi Medical College Hospital (RMCH), said Mahbub Alam, officer-in-charge (investigation) of Motihar Police Station.
