2 Jessore cops sued for ‘implicating’ man in false case
Jessore: A case has been filed with a court here against two policemen for implicating a man in a ‘false’ case and not releasing him even after taking money from his family.
The accused policemen are sub-inspector Farid Ahmed and assistant sub-inspector Khademul Gaffar of Bashuari police camp in Abhaynagar upazila.
Abul Kalam Mollah, son of Kaiyum Mollah of Ichhamati village in the upazila, filed the case on Sunday, reports the UNB.
Taking cognisance of the complaint, the court fixed April 10 for the next hearing.
According to the case statement, Kalam who was a drug dealer submitted an application to the police super of Jessore promising that he would return to normal life and the appeal was granted.
However, the accused policemen demanded money from Kalam even after he left the drug business and threatened him in different ways.
Being failed to collect money, the policemen detained Kalam’s brother Tariqul recently and informed Kalam that they recovered 32kg hemp, 500gm heroin and six firearms from his brother.
Two policemen demanded Tk 1 lakh for his release, according to the case statement.
Tariqul’s wife Roksana went to the police camp and gave them Tk 50,000 to get her husband released. The policemen also took her gold ornaments assuring her that they would not file any case against her husband.
However, the policemen sent Tariqul to court showing him arrested in a case.
It was mentioned in the case statement that there are telephonic conversations hone record of conversation with police.
The family is now feeling insecure following threat of the policemen, claimed the complaint.
