Bodies of Faisal, Nazia exhumed and buried again

Shariatpur: The bodies of US-Bangla plane crash victims Ahmed Faisal and Nazia Afrin Chowdhury who were buried in wrong graveyards following a mix-up during handover have been exhumed from graves and buried again in right burial sites.

The body of Faisal, a Boishakhi TV reporter hailing from Shariatpur, was handed over to the family of Nazia while that of Nazia from Dhaka to the family of Faisal at Army Stadium in the capital on March 19. They were buried in Dhaka and Shariatpur respectively.

As the two families came to know about the mix-up, they filed separate petitions with separate courts in Shariatpur and Dhaka that ordered exhumation of the bodies and their proper burial.

Following the court orders, the body of Faisal was dug out from Banani graveyard in the capital on Thursday afternoon, took here and buried at a grave at his village home early Friday.

At the same time, the body of Nazia was exhumed from the grave in the presence of Damudya upazila nirbahi officer Rosy Akhter and handed over to her family for burial.
