SC lawyers’ body offers free legal aid to quota movement activists

Condemning the police attack on the students, who have been staging demonstration demanding reform of quota system for the last few days, the Supreme Court Lawyers Association on Tuesday announced to provide free legal help to the students if they file cases over the incident.
The leaders of the Association came up with the announcement while speaking at a press briefing, held at Shaheed Shafiur Rahman Auditorium in the city, reports the UNB.
They also requested the government to accept the demand of the students. They submitted a written statement.
According to the written statement of the Association, it is mentioned that several hundred students were injured as police took action against the demonstrators and some armed cadres were involved with police and carried out attack on the protesters, which is a violation of human rights.
The Lawyers Association also demanded punishment of those law enforcers involved in the attack after forming a probe committee headed by one SC judge.
Barrister Sheikh Golam Sarwar, Advocate Shah Nasir, Asbarul Haq, Barrister Belayet Hossain, Advocate Mizanur Rahman, Belal Hossain, Mostafizur Rahman, Salma Sultana Shoma and Foyzullah Foyez were, among others, present at the briefing.
