Dhaka: The High Court on Thursday ordered burial of Hosneara Laizu (Nipa Rani), whose body was kept at Rangpur Medical College Hospital for more than four years for legal complications over her religious conversion, according to Islamic rituals.

The HC bench of Justice Md Miftah Uddin Chowdhury directed the Deputy Commissioner of Nilphamari to execute the order within three days after getting the order copy in presence of magistrate and law enforcers, reports the UNB.

The court also asked him to allow her father’s family before the burial.

Advocate Samir Mazumder stood for the father of Laizu and Advocate A K M Badruddoza for the father of Laizu’s husband Humayun Farid Lazu.

According to the prosecution, Nipa Rani converted to Muslim and took the name ‘Hosneara Laizu’ before marrying her lover Lazu, a Muslim boy. Her family filed an abduction case against Lazu. Later, Lazu served jail term and Nipa was brought back to her family.

After releasing from jail, Lazu committed suicide by taking poison. Hearing the news, Nipa also committed suicide.

Later, families of Nipa and Lazu filed cases claiming Nipa’s body.

Her body had been lying at the hospital morgue since March 10,2014 as the case remained unsolved.
