Dhaka for responsible use of energy

Dhaka: Prime Minister’s Energy Adviser Dr Taufiq-e-Elahi Chowdhury, in an international energy forum in New Delhi on Thursday stressed on responsible use of energy.
He said in the wake of a growing demand for energy in Bangladesh as well as in the world, there needs to be a big push to innovation and creativity.
He attended a three-day 16th International Energy Forum that began in New Delhi on Wednesday, said a press release on Thursday, reports the UNB.
Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the event attended by more than 200 foreign delegates from 72 countries around the world including the Energy Ministers.
Dr Chowdhury participated in a panel discussion as a distinguished panelist in the session titled “Sustainable and Inclusive Growth: Energy Access and Affordability”.
He also gave an account of the socio economic progress of Bangladesh and resulting rise in energy demand. He said Bangladesh, under able and farsighted leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, is working on the right energy mix.
The advisor referred to the frontier technology in energy and its potentials.
On the sidelines of the conference, he held bilateral meeting with the Indian Minister for Petroleum and Natural Gas, Dharmendra Pradhan.
During meeting the he expressed his satisfaction at the current bilateral relations between Bangladesh and India, particularly in the energy sector and discussed newer areas of cooperation in the energy sector.
During his stay in Delhi, he also met Energy Minister of Nepal Barsha Man Pun Ananta with the talks focusing on promoting bilateral energy cooperation. In addition he met with several private sector representatives.
International energy forum is the world’s largest recurring gathering of energy ministers on contemporary issues.
The 16th IEF is focusing on long term energy policy and governance.
