Rape attempt on girl in Dhaka bus awful
Dhaka: Expressing its concern over the rape attempt on a university girl in a bus in the city, Bangladesh Mahila Parishad (BMP) on Monday demanded that exemplary punishment be meted out to those involved in the incident.
It also called for countrywide social resistance against violence targeting women and children, according to a press release.
Citing reports published in different newspapers on Monday, the BMP said a female student of Uttara University alleged that staff and driver of an Uttara-bound Turag bus and eight passengers attempted to rape her on Saturday.
Sensing that the conductor was trying to shut the door of the bus, the student jumped out of it at Badda. Mahila Parishad also called for ensuring safely to the victim and her family and taking measures to stop recurrence of such incident.
