Meherpur: Police recovered the bullet-hit body of a listed criminal from Brac office area in Meherpur early on Wednesday.

The deceased is Khademul, of Baganpara area in the town.

Rabiul Alam, officer-in-charge of Sadar Police Station, said hearing sounds of gunshots around 3:30am, a team of police went to the spot and found bullet-hit body of Khademul.

Later, he was taken to Meherpur General Hospital where the doctors declared him dead.

Police suspected that Khademul might have been killed as the two criminal gangs exchanged gunfire.

Khademul was a listed criminal and wanted in several cases including that of robbery and murder.

Police also recovered a one-shutter gun, three hand bombs and some sharp weapons from the spot.
