SCBA demands quick appointment of SC judges

Dhaka: Supreme Court Bar Association (SCBA) on Monday called for the quick appointment of Supreme Court judges as per the Constitution.
Addressing a press conference at SCBA Bhaban, SCBA president Zainul Abedin also demanded the formation of a policy for the appointment of High Court judges, reports the UNB.
Reading out a written statement, he said, ‘We’ve heard that the government was planning to appoint judges to the Appellate Division and the High Court without the formulation of any draft policy.’
‘We also want the appointment of judges but that must be done as per section 95(2) of Constitution. If it takes time, then we demand that the judges be appointed considering the HC’s verdict of April 13 in 2017,’ Zainul Abedin added.
SCBA general secretary Mahbub Uddin Khokon, vice-president Golam Rahman were, among others, present at the press conference.
