Madaripur: A court here on Monday convicted four people and sentenced them to death for killing a young man in 2013.

The convicts are - Alamin Kha, 17, Shahin Hawladar, 28, Mizanur Rahman Hawladar, 32 and Abdul Khalek Hawlader, 42 of Jaduarchar village in Shibchar upazila.

According to the prosecution, the convict Alamin along with his three maternal uncles swooped on the house of his step brother Sohel Mallik, 24 and strangulated him to death following an enmity over the ownership of a piece of land on August 8, 2013.

Siddique Mallik, father of the victim filed a case with Shibchar Police Station on the following day.

Police submitted charge sheet against the four after investigation.

After examining records and witnesses, Madaripur District and Session Judge handed down the verdict.
