Rajshahi: A teenaged girl committed suicide by jumping from the roof of a private clinic in the city on Wednesday noon.

The deceased was identified as Sathi Khatun, 18, daughter of Mir Abdullah of Chandualia village in Jhenaidha Sadar upazila. She was an HSC examinee in this year.

Family sources said Sathi had been suffering from skin disease for some days. She got married around eight months back. She would come with her elder brother Nazim to meet a doctor at Model Hospital here for treatment. She came with him last on May 8.

On Wednesday she came to meet the doctor again but with her mother. At one point she jumped from the hospital roof around 1:45 pm, becoming critically injured.

She was taken to Rajshahi Medical College Hospital where the duty doctor declared her dead. They did not find any reason behind this unwanted incident, said deceased's bother Nazim.

Hafizur Rahman, officer-in-charge of Rajpara Police Station said the body was handed over to the family after autopsy.
