Shimulia-Kawrakandi ferry plying resumes after 4 hrs
Munshiganj: Ferry services on the Shimulia-Kawrakandi route in the Padma River resumed after four hours of disruption caused by fog obscured visibility on Thursday morning.
Bangladesh Inland Water Transport Corporation assistant manager at Shimulia ghat Shekhar Chandra Roy said they kept suspended ferry services and plying of the water vessels from 5:00am to 9:15am due to blurred visibility for dense fog.
Five ferries stayed motionless in the mid-river, as thick fog enveloped the area.
Several hundred vehicles were kept waiting on both sides of the river for crossing.
However, ferry services resumed at about 9:15am as fog disappeared after the sunrise.
