Create more entrepreneurs to expedite development
Dhaka: President Abdul Hamid on Thursday urged business leaders to create more entrepreneurs in order to accelerate the country’s socioeconomic development.
The President made the call when the newly elected board of directors of Dhaka Chamber of Commerce and Industry (DCCI), led by its President Hossain Khaled, made a courtesy call on him at Bangabhaban.
During the meeting, Abdul Hamid said trade and investment are indispensible for the economic development and businessmen have to take lead in this regard. The duty of the government is to provide support, he said.
President’s press secretary Joynal Abedin briefed reporters after the meeting.
Observing that climate change is posing threats to many countries, the President underscored the need for taking steps to check environmental pollution.
Noting that Bangladesh exports goods to many countries, he urged the business leaders to take initiative to maintain international standard of Bangladeshi products.
The delegation members informed the President that they have continued to put efforts to create new entrepreneurs in the country. The new entrepreneurs have been given ideas as well as cooperation by the DCCI in this regard.
The chamber will organise a motivational meeting for the new entrepreneurs at divisional level, they added.
They highlighted various aspects of business and investment potentials of the country.
The business leaders underscored the need for adopting a specific plan for the extension of local investment.
