BNP pays tributes to Wahidul Alam
Dhaka: BNP on Monday paid last respect to its chairperson’s adviser and former chief whip of parliament Syed Wahidul Alam, who died at a city hospital on Sunday night, by placing wreaths on his coffin.
Alam’s coffin was taken to BNP’s Nayapaltan central office around 12noon and kept on a temporary stage in front of it. BNP secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir along with party senior leaders placed wreaths on his coffin and draped it with a party flag as a mark of respect to the late leader, reports the UNB.
His second namaz-e-janaza was also held there attended by party leaders and activists.
Apart from Fakhrul, BNP sanding committee members Dr Abdul Moyeen Khan, Nazrul Islam Khan, Amir Khosru Mahmud Chowdhury, vice chairman Zainul Abedin, chairperson’s adviser Moshiur Rahman, joint secretary general Khairul Kabir Khokon, and organising secretary Shamimur Rahman Shamim were, among others, present.
Alam died around 8pm on Sunday while undergoing treatment at the capital’s central hospital, Dhanmondi at the age of 73.
His first namaz-e-janaza was held at the South Plaza of Parliament Complex at 11:00am on Monday.
Family sources said Alam’s mortal remains will be flown to Chattogram city and his third janaza was scheduled to be held at Jamiatul Falah Mosque there.
His body is expected to be taken to Hathazari College ground around 11:00am on Tuesday where his fourth janaza will be held.
Alam will be buried at his family graveyard after his fifth janaza in Lalairhat Madrasa field after Zohr prayers.
