SC lawyer banned for 6 months over fraudulence

Dhaka: The High Court on Monday banned a Supreme Court lawyer for six months in connection with bailing two rape convicts from jail showing false information and papers.
The court also issued a rule seeking explanation as to why the lawyer should not be banned from the legal profession forever and ordered Criminal Investigation Department (CID) to investigate the fraudulence and submit reports within two months.
A bench of Justice Md Shawkat Hossain and Justice Md Nazrul Islam Talukdar passed the order, reports the UNB.
Deputy Attorney General KM Zahid Sarowar Kajal said last year on May 9, Billal Bhuiyan, 45, convict of a minor rape case, secured bail from the High Court showing false papers.
Besides, in September of 2016, convict of another rape case, Faruk Bhuiyan also secured bail from the court showing false documents.
One of the false papers was signed by Supreme Court lawyer Jalal Uddin while another was by Jamal Uddin and both their signatures look almost same.
Bar Association member Jalal Uddin was present in the dock and pleaded himself not guilty.
