Govt kept Khaleda Zia behind bars using judiciary: Mosharraf
Dhaka: BNP senior leader Khandaker Mosharraf Hossain on Thursday alleged that the government has kept their chairperson Khaleda Zia in jail by regulating the judiciary to hold another ‘farcical election’.
‘The Appellate Division is not supposed to stay the bail (to Khaleda) without any indication from the highest level. It’s the government which has kept our leader in jail establishing its full control on the court,’ he said.
Speaking at a discussion, the BNP leader further said, ‘The main motive behind the government’s such move is to hold farcical parliamentary polls keeping Khaleda Zia out of the race.’
Swadhinata Forum, a pro-BNP platform, arranged the programme at the Jatiya Press Club demanding the release of Khaleda Zia and other arrested BNP leaders.
Mosharraf, a BNP standing committee member, said the government through its attitude and activities has made it clear it will not change its current stance on Khaleda and next polls until a strong movement is waged.
He called upon his party colleagues to take all-out-preparations for launching a strong street movement to ensure the government’s fall.
The BNP leader warned that people will not allow the government to hold another January-5, 20014 like ‘farcical election’.
Referring to the Prime Minister’s remark that she has given India many things, he called upon Sheikh Hasina to let people know what she has so far given the neighbouring country.
Mosharraf said people know it very well that the Prime Minister can give anything to India as per its desire, but can bring nothing from Delhi.
