Metro Rail route-6: Another agreement signed

Dhaka: An agreement for construction of Mass Rapid Transit (MRT) Line-6 (Package-7) was signed at Bangabandhu International Conference center in the city on Sunday.
Dhaka Mass Transit Company Limited (DMTCL) Managing Director MAN Siddique and Marubeni Larsen-Tubro Company chief Rajiv Jayati signed the agreement on behalf of their respective sides, reports the UNB.
Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader was present as chief guest at the contract signing ceremony.
Under package-7 of the project electrical and mechanical system will be supplied and constructed involving Tk 4, 930 crore.
Speaking on the occasion, Obaidul Quader said the construction work on the Uttara-Motijheel section of the country’s first ever metro rail project is progressing rapidly.
The almost 20-kilometre Metro Rail route-6 is being constructed in eight phases.With the new one, agreements for implementing eight packages have been signed.
Indian High Commissioner Harsh Vardhan Shringla, Road Transport Division Secretary M Nazrul Islam, Project Director Aftab Uddin Talukder and other senior officials concerned were present on the occasion.
