The committee was constituted at the regular weekly cabinet meeting with Principal Secretary to Prime Minister’s Office as its convener on Monday. Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina presided over the meeting.

‘The draft law was placed before the cabinet today but the meeting sent it back for its further review,’ said Cabinet Secretary Mohammad Shafiul Alam at a briefing after the meeting, reports the UNB.

He said the Principal Secretary will act as the convener of the committee, while the Tariff Commission Chairman as its Member Secretary.

The four other members of the committee are Secretaries of the Ministries of Finance, Commerce and Industries, and NBR Chairman, Shafiul Alam added.

Meanwhile, the cabinet was apprised of the visit of the Foreign Minister to Japan on May 13-15 last.
