‘Drug trader’ killed in Bhairab ‘gunfight’
Kishoreganj: A suspected drug trader was killed in a reported gunfight with police at Gachtalaghat in Bhairab Municipality area on early Thursday.
According to the reports reaching at UNB news desk, with the latest one, some 110 people were killed during ‘gunfights’ with members of law enforcement agencies while 33 bodies of drug traders were recovered after reported gun battle among rival groups since May 15, reports the UNB.
The deceased Selim Mia, son of Syed Mia of Panchabati area, was wanted in ten cases, said Mokhlesur Rahman, officer-in-charge of Bhairab Police Station.
Being informed that a gang of drug traders were dealing drugs in the area a team of police conducted a drive there, he said.
Sensing presence of the law enforcer, the drug peddlers fired gunshots to police while the law enforcers fired back in self defence, leaving Selim dead on the spot.
Police also recovered one pistol, 510 pieces of Yaba tablets and 24 bottles of Phensidyl from the spot.
