Gazipur: About the suspicion of BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia’s personal physicians that she has suffered a mild stroke, Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader on Sunday said it is not true as she fell sick for low blood sugar level.

‘I have talked to the Home Minister and IG Prison over the matter. Though Khaleda’s physicians said she might have suffered from mild stroke, the physician of the jail said it is because of fall in her blood sugar level. It’s not a mild stroke.’ he said.

Obaidul was talking to reporters while visiting Dhaka-Tangail highway at Chandra.

‘We don’t support any negligence in Khaleda’s treatment and she has been requested to go abroad for treatment and undergo medical tests at Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU) Hospital,’ said the minister.

Talking about the road condition and Eid journey, Quader said the four-lane Chandra-Elenga road will be opened to traffic on June 12, aiming to ensure the smooth journey of homebound people.

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will inaugurate the road after Eid, he said.

Mohammad Harunur Rahid, Superintendent of Gazipur Police, Gazipur Highway Police Super Shafiqur Islam were, among others, present.

Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan on Saturday said they will take step for the treatment of BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia at Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University Hospital (BSMMUH) as per prescription of her personal physicians.

Four personal physicians met the BNP Chairperson at the Old Central Jail on Saturday and feared that she might have suffered a mild stroke.

‘BNP chairperson Khalade Zia collapsed on the ground on June 5 but she cannot memories the time of the incident. We think she has suffered a mild stroke,’ said Prof SM Siddique of Dhaka Medical College Hospital DMCH Medicine Department.
