AL leader gunned down in Badda
Dhaka: Awami League leader was shot to death by unknown assailants in the city’s Uttar Badda area on Friday afternoon.
AB Siddique, officer-in-charge of Gulshan Police Station, said Farhad Hossain, 52, general secretary of Badda union Awami League, was sprayed with bullets as he came out of Baitus Salam-Jam-e- Mosque after offering juma prayers.
Farhad sustained bullet wounds in his head and chest. He was taken to United Hospital where doctors declared him dead, reports the UNB.
A witness to the incident said two criminals riding a motorcycle came to the spot and opened fire on him.
Police could not unearth the reason behind the killing and track down the killers immediately.
Meanwhile, criminals opened fire on police at Gudaraghat check-post on Badda-Gulshan Link Road while passing the area by a CNG-run auto-rickshaw after the murder.
Police suspected that those who took part in the killing mission attacked them while fleeing, the OC said.
