Hearing on Khaleda Zia’s bail pleas in Narail case July 2

Narail: A court here will hear on July 2 a bail petition of BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia in a case filed over her derogatory remarks about freedom fighters and Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.
Senior Judicial Magistrate Zahidul Azad fixed the date on Tuesday after Khaleda’s lawyer Iqbal Hossain Shikder filed the bail petition.
Earlier, on June 5, the District and Session’s Judge Court denied bail to the BNP chief in the case.
On December 21, 2015, Khaleda Zia at a discussion at the Institution of Engineers, Bangladesh raised questions about the actual number of Liberation War martyrs saying, ‘There’re controversies over how many were martyred in the Liberation War. There’re also many books and documents on the controversies.’
She had also allegedly made derogatory remarks about Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.
Reacting over the Khaleda’s remarks, Raihan Farooque Imam filed a case with the Cognisance Court on December 24, 2015.
