Parliament: Famous for hilsa for ages, Bangladesh itself now imports the delicious fish, reveals Fisheries and Livestock Minister Muhammed Sayedul Hoque.

Replying to a starred question from Sharif Ahmed (Mymensing-2) in Parliament, the minister said Bangladesh imports different species of fish like sweet water and sea ones from various countries, and there is also hilsa.

However, Sayedul did not mention from which country Bangladesh imports hilsa.  

In 2014-15 fiscal, Bangladesh imported 97,384 metric tonnes of fish worth Tk 304 crore, the minister told the House.
