Supreme Court lawyers’ body to work pro bono for quota reform protesters

Dhaka: At least 20 lawyers of the Supreme Court Lawyers Association on Monday announced that they would provide free legal aid to students, quota reform protesters over police attack on them as they protest for quota reformation.

The leaders of the association made the announcement while speaking at a press briefing, held at Supreme Court Law Reports Form office in the city, reports the UNB.

Lawyers said if any harassment case against the students and torture incident took place on them, they can get free legal aid from them.

If the victim student's family members contact with them for legal aid, the lawyers are ready to help them free of cost. They would go to the lower court if needed and help the quota reformers, they added.

Advocate Hasanat Quaium, Barrister Jatirmay Barua, Advocate Ainurnnahar Siddiqua, Barrister Anik Haque, Advocate Dr Kazi, Jahed Iqbal, Shahariar Shakir, Anwar Reza, Humayun Kabir, Hasan Arif Chowdhury, Parvez Hasem, Utpal Biswas, Jabeda Gulruk, Nasir Ahmed and Ariful Haque, among others, present at the briefing.
