Dinajpur: Finance Minister AMAMuhith on Thursday said the next general election will be held in time, no matter whether any party joins it or not.

‘The Election Commission will arrange the election in due time, no matter whether anyone takes part in it or not. The election won’t wait for anyone,’ he said while talking to reporters after inaugurating a four-storey academic building of Nurul Huda High School in Parbatipur upazila.

Earlier, speaking at the programme, Muhith said development takes place at every sector of the country whenever Sheikh Hasina’s government is in power. ‘The government has allocated highest Tk 65,095 crore for the education sector in the national budget to educate all children and continue the development trend,’ he said.

Muhith also said the Prime Minister has announced in Parliament to bring non-government schools under the Monthly Pay Order (MPO) scheme. ‘There’s no logic behind waging any movement for MPO enlistment.’

The Finance Minister also underscored the need for providing science-based modern education to children, saying the government is working to ensure quality education.

Primary and Mass Education Minister Mostafizur Rahman, former secretary and Shikkha Onirban Bangladesh Chairman Lutfullahil Mazid, Deputy Commissioner of the district ANM Abdus Sabur and Superintendent of Police Md Hamidul Alam, among others, spoke on the occasion.
