Dhaka gets its 50th police station at Hatirjheel
Dhaka: Home Minister Asaduzzaan Khan on Saturday formally inaugurated Hatirjheel Police Station, the 50th police station of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP).
The new police station has been constituted including entire Hatirjheel project areas as well as parts of Ramna, Tejgaon Shilpanchal and Rampura police station areas. The Hatirjheel police station will operate under Tejgaon Division of the DMP.
Addressing a function at Madhubagh Balurmath after inaugurating the Hatirjheel Thana Bhavan at 356 Madhubagh of Moghbazar, the Home Minister said the new police station has been inaugurated to give more protection to the inhabitants, people of all walks of life as well as other establishments under the police station.
He urged the policemen to turn the police station as a place of confidence saying that Hatirjheel police station will work to ensure security of tourists both from home and abroad as well as Hatirjheel areas.
He also gave assurance to the people of the area of turning the police station as an ideal one. ‘Police officials, who have been given postings in the police station, will work accordingly,’ home minister added.
Home minister said presently the police station is housed in a temporary arrangement but a permanent and beautiful thana complex will be built soon as ‘we have already selected place for the thana bhavan,’ he said.
Inspector General of Police (IGP) Dr Mohammad Javed Patwari said it was very difficult to control law and order for the police as the Hatirjheel area is a large area. The dream of the inhabitants fulfilled through inauguration of the Hatirjheel police station.
‘All police members of the police station will give you (inhabitants) service staying besides you,’ he said.
Chaired by DMP Commissioner Asaduzzaman Miah , the programme was attended by senior police officers, local elites of the society and local people representatives.
