Dhaka: Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on Sunday said the government is taking numerous steps to build the children of the country in such a way so that they can compete in the world in a better way than others.

“Aiming to keep our children ahead in global competition, we’re taking all the necessary steps,’she said.

The Prime Minister was distributing awards among the winners of countrywide creative merit search 2018 competition at national level at the International Conference Centre of the Prime Minister’s Office, reports the UNB.

She said the world is moving fast and all have to move with the world coping with its pace. “We want to build our children in that way.”

The Prime Minister said the government is taking measurers to provide education on new subjects that are being taught in big universities and schools across the world. “We’re giving importance to that... we’re taking all sorts of steps, including training for teachers.... We’re leaving no stone unturned,’she said.

Sheikh Hasina mentioned that the children of the country are the most brilliant students in the world. “I think that our children are most brilliant and meritorious.”

Education Minister Nurul Islam Nahid and State Minister for Technical and Madrasha Education Division Kazi Keramat Ali also spoke at the porgramme.

Sheikh Hasina said Bangladesh wants to create its own skilled manpower like efficient researchers, scientists and technologists to lead the country towards prosperity.

Referring to the launching of Bangabandhu-1 Satellite into the space, she said it would create opportunities to expand network throughout the country and thereby contribute to education, healthcare and other service sectors.  The Prime Minister expressed optimism that grooming children as efficient, skilled and tech-savvy manpower would be possible if necessary opportunities could be ensured for them.

She said there is no alternative to exploration of innovative talents to turn the country into poverty- and hunger-free prosperous one and today’s students would be able to establish Golden Bangladesh as dreamt by the Father of the Nation.

Hasina said the Father of the Nation had undertaken various time-befitting steps to expand education across the country recognising education as a fundamental right and rebuilt war-ravaged educational institutions.

Following the footprint of Bangabandhu, her government also put the highest importance to education as it is not possible to establish a poverty- and hunger-free country without education, she said.  For this purpose, she said, the government has taken measures to impart training to teachers to boost their efficiency.

Sheikh Hasina said the government made education multifaceted one by establishing specialised universities in the country to stand on their own feet and create a qualified generation.  Congratulating the award recipient students, the Prime Minister advised them to be attentive to their regular studies saying they will have to work for the development of the country.

On behalf of the award recipients, two best talented students also spoke at the function sharing their feelings.

Earlier, the Prime Minister handed over awards among the best talented students selected at national and divisional level through Countrywide Innovative Talent Hunt Competition-2018.
