Temperature rise signals winter’s retreat

Dhaka: The winter is packing up as steady rise in temperature signals its retreat for past several days, Met office sources said today, reports BSS.
A meteorologist of Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) said the winter season has come to a close as temperature has continued to rise steadily across the country during the past few days.
It rose by at least one degree Celsius across the country today when the mercury count was taken at dawn following the steady trend of rising temperature, he said, adding the winter normally bids farewell by mid- February.
The lowest temperature of 14.2 degrees Celsius was recorded at Dimla today and the highest temperature of 31.5 degrees was recorded at Teknaf.
Dhaka had a maximum 28.6 C and minimum 19.6 C, Chittagong maximum 29 C and minimum 20.4 C, Khulna maximum 29.8 C and minimum 20.6 C, Barisal maximum 29.7 C and minimum 19.8 C, Sylhet maximum 30.1 C and minimum 16.8 C, Rajshahi maximum 29.7 C and minimum 18.6 C and Rangpur maximum 29.0 C and minimum 16 C temperature.
Weather may remain dry with temporary partly cloudy sky over the country, a weather forecast of Met Office said today.
Light to moderate fog may occur at places over the country during late night till morning.
Night and day temperature may remain nearly unchanged over the country.
