Ferry service on Paturia-Daulatdia resumes after 5hrs

Manikganj: Ferry service on the Paturia-Daulatdia route resumed on Tuesday after 5 hours of its disruption caused by dense fog.
BIWTA Aricha manager Mahiuddin Russel said they kept suspended ferry service on the Paturia-Daulatdia route from 4:00am to 9:00am due to blurred visibility caused by dense fog.
Earlier, the ferry service on the route was suspended at about 4:00am as thick fog enveloped the area.
Nine ferries remained stranded at Paturia and Daulatdia ghats.
Besides, seven ferries—Ranjigandha, Kaberi, Motiur Rahman, Shah Makhdum, Shahjalal, Khan Jahan Ali, Hasna Hena and Barkat-lay stranded in the mid-river due to poor visibility caused by the fog, he said.
About 200 vehicles, including buses, trucks and cars, remained stranded along with several thousand passengers in the mid-river and on both ends of the important route.
However, the ferry services resumed at about 9:00am as fog started disappearing with sunrise.
