Dhaka: Light to moderate rain continued for the third day on Wednesday caused by the active monsoon left the capital’s traffic system in complete chaos, causing immense sufferings to the city dwellers.

Although it has been drizzling since Tuesday night, the roads became muddy and patchy, inflicting the woes of the people, reports the UNB.

Waterlogging was seen on many parts of the city including Mohammadpur, Dhanmondi, Kazipara, Rokeya Sarani, Shewrapara, Kazipara and Mirpur-10. In many places in Shewrapara and Kazipara rainwater entered some low-lying residential houses, leaving the people marooned.

People were seen waiting for public transport to reach their respective destinations while some others seen walking amid rain leaving the transport to reach their destinations on time.

People, including the office-goers and students, were seen struggling a lot to reach their workplaces and educational institutions.

The Met office recorded 66 mm of rainfall from 6:00 am on Tuesday till 9:00am on Wednesday, said Ayesha Khatun, deputy director of Bangladesh Meteorological Department.

‘The rain may continue for the next three more days with high and low intensity,’ she said.

According to the Met office, light to moderate rain/thundershowers accompanied by temporary gusty wind is likely to occur at most places over Rajshahi, Rangpur, Dhaka, Mymensingh, Khulna, Barishal, Chattogram and Sylhet divisions with moderately heavy to very heavy falls at places over the country.

Day temperature may rise slightly over the north-western part and it may fall slightly elsewhere over the country. Night temperature may remain nearly unchanged over the country, it said.
