BNP has no belief in healthy politics: PM
Dhaka: Taking a swipe at BNP, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on Tuesday said this party is always engaged in violence, terrorism and corruption as it does not believe in healthy politics.
‘There’s no doubt they’re always engaged in violence and terrorism. They don’t believe in healthy politics. They only know how to unleash violence and terrorism, and engage in corruption,’ she told a function at her official residence Ganobhaban, reports the UNB.
The function was organised to hand over financial assistance to the families of 25 people who were either killed and injured in the August 21 grenade attack on an Awami League rally at Bangabandhu Avenue in the city in 2004.
The Prime Minister said Awami League had fallen victim to terrorism arranging the rally in protest against terrorism. ‘The August 21 grenade attack was the outcome of a deep-rooted conspiracy,’ she said.
Just before the grenade attack, Khaleda Zia in her speech had said Sheikh Hasina would never be the Prime Minister and even the opposition leader in the future, Hasina said, adding, ‘So, It’s evident who were involved in the attack.’
She handed over savings certificates to the families of the grenade attack victims at the function.
