ASK decries police excesses on protesting students
Dhaka: Terming the police’s attitude towards the protesting students at the city as totally unacceptable, Ain O Salish Kendra (ASK) has urged the administration to take necessary steps to stop it immediately.
The right body made the urge in a statement issued on Wednesday.
ASK also expressed its deep concern over the attacks on the students made by the transport workers at Narayanganj on Wednesday morning.
It said, ‘We came to know that the transport workers attacked and beat the protesting students of different schools and colleges in Mouchak area of Siddhirganj, Narayanganj, which is very unfortunate.’
Mentioning about the increasing rate of road accidents, ASK also said ‘The behavior of the law enforcement agencies towards the students, who are demanding to ensure safety in the streets, is not acceptable at all.’
They also asked the law enforcers to be more responsible in their actions and called the government to take steps to increase road safety.
