Dhaka-Chittagong route rail trip duration will be reduced
Chittagong: Trains running between Dhaka and Chittagong from now on will reach their destinations about 30 or 50 minutes earlier than their usual time, reports BSS quoting the railway authorities.
The non-stop inter-city train ‘Suborno Express’ on Dhaka-Chittagong route from now-on will reach the destinations 30 to 50 minutes earlier as the Bangladesh Railway (BR) authority decided to reduce its running time.
Railway sources said the ‘Suborno Express’ train from Chittagong station will reach Dhaka 30 minutes earlier while the same train will reach Chittagong station 50 minutes earlier than its previous plying time.
‘The train will leave Chittagong for Dhaka as per existing schedule (7:00am) but reach the destination Kamalapur railway station at 12:40pm instead of 1:10pm’, the sources said adding the Chittagong-bound Suborno Express will leave Dhaka according to existing timetable (3:00pm) and reach Chittagong 8:30pm instead of 9:20pm.
Apart from Subarna Express, the duration of trip will also be reduced in case of other trains too running on this route.
Bangladesh Railway Eastern Zone general manger, Makbul Ahammad said the authorities, considering smooth journey of the passenger, decided to reduce the running time of the train service, which will be effective from February 22 next.
He also said the authority will soon reduce the running time of the other inter-city train services on Dhaka-Chittagong route.
