Advance Eid train ticket sale begins
Dhaka: Hundreds of ticket-seekers thronged Kamalapur Railway Station from early Wednesday as Bangladesh Railway has begun the selling of advance train tickets for the Eid-ul-Azha.
Of the first day of selling, people gathered at ticket counters to collect tickets for August 17.
Many ticket seekers standing in the queue said they came to buy tickets the previous evening and passed the night at the station to ensure they get hold of the tickets.
The advance ticket of August 18, 19, 20 and 21 will be available on August 9, 10, 11 and 12 respectively.
Besides, the return tickets for the journey of August 24 will be available on August 15 and for August 25 on August 16, August 26 on August 17, August 27 on August 18 and for August 28 on August 19.
The sale of tickets has begun at 8 am and each passenger will be able to buy a maximum of four tickets.
Besides, nine pairs of special trains will run on different routes on the occasion of Eid.
There will be 1402 coaches with 229 locomotives.
Government Railway Police (GRP), Railway Nirapatta Bahini (RNB), Rapid Action Battalion (Rab) and Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) will be deployed at all the big stations for preventing the sale of tickets in black market while the deputy commissioners concerned will conduct mobile courts.
Meanwhile, plying of Dhaka-Kolkata-Dhaka Moitree Train will remain suspended from on August 21, 22 and the Bandhan express on August 23.
