DMP launches counter-terrorism unit

Dhaka: Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) on Tuesday launched its Counter-Terrorism and Transnational Crime (CTTC) unit with Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Mohammad Monirul Islam as its chief, reports BSS.
The other members of the unit are: One DIG, one additional DIG joint commissioner, four deputy commissioners (DCs), 10 ADCs and 20 assistant commissioners (ACs), and the rest are from the ranks of inspectors and constables.
The CTTC unit, a specialized unit of the DMP, formed with about 600 manpower for combating cybercrimes, terror financing and mobile bank related crimes, said official release this evening. “It will work with having four divisions - terrorism, cyber security and crime, crime scene management and transnational - in the capital.
‘The CTTC unit will work only in DMP’s jurisdiction but in case of terror acts, it will also work outside the capital in coordination with other police units,’ he added.
