Natore: Police arrested an alleged criminal in possession of three firearms, 56 rounds of bullet and four bullet shells from his house in Chowdhury Barogachha of the town early Saturday.

The arrestee was Masud Rana, a resident of the area.

Assistant Superintendent of Police Rafiqul said a team of police conducted a raid on the house of Masud to arrest him at about 12:00am.

At one stage, Masud opened fire at the law enforcers and fled the scene.

When Masud returned home in the dead of night, the law enforcers again raided his house and arrested him.

Later, police also recovered one pistol, one revolver, one magazine, 56 rounds of bullet and four bullet shells after searching his house.

The arrestee was wanted in several cases including for extortion, said officer-in-charge of Sadar Police Station Mizanur Rahman.
