No dialogue with political parties before election: EC
Dhaka: The Election Commission (EC) on Thursday ruled out the possibility of holding any dialogue with political parties before the upcoming general election.
Talking to reporters after a meeting of election commissioners at Nirbachan Bhaban, EC Secretary Helal Uddin Ahmed also said the Commission has already completed 80 percent preparations for holding the 11th parliamentary polls, reports the UNB.
‘Around 80 percent preparations have been completed for the next parliamentary elections. So, there’s no possibility to engage any talks with political parties ahead of the election,’ he said.
The EC secretary said the election schedule is likely to be declared in the first week of November as the election may be held in the last week of December.
Before the announcement of the election schedule, he said, the Commission will hold a meeting to assess its overall preparations for arranging the election.
