No fresh TCB allocation in Khulna

Dhaka: Having no new allocation for Eid-ul-Azha, Trading Corporation of Bangladesh (TCB) in Khulna is continuing its sale programme with the commodities allocated for Eid-ul-Fitr this year.
Md Rabiul Morshed, the head of TCB regional office in Khulna, told UNB that this year there is no allocation for the upcoming Eid in Khulna.
Besides, there is not much interests among dealers as well on selling TCB products.
While sugar price has dropped by Tk 2 to Tk 3 per kilogram, price of lentil and oil remained same as those were during Eid-ul-Fitr, he said adding that the programme targets to complete selling the commodities by this week.
There is also restriction from high officials to say anything about amount of stock, he added.
According to sources, there are 456 authorized dealers in 14 districts under Khulna regional office of TCB, of which 250 dealers have not renewed their dealership.
Though the rest of dealers renewed the dealership but there is no interest in selling the goods as only two dealers under the regional office of TCB are selling its commodities along with other products in trucks.
Several TCB directives are also allegedly not being followed while selling the products.
Some 300 to 600 litre of oil and 300 to 600 kg of sugar have been allocated for each TCB authorized dealers, but no dealer has applied to the office for selling goods ahead of the Eid, said TCB official.
