Jhenaidah: A Bangladesh Army member was hacked to death by unidentified miscreants at Bonkira village in Sadar upazila on Saturday night. 

The deceased was identified as Saiful Islam, 38. Further details about the victim were not available immediately.

Imdadul Haque, officer-in-charge of Sadar Police Station, said a group of miscreants intercepted Saiful on the deserted Chuadanga-Jhenaidah road around 10:15pm while he along with his brother Monirul Islam and the father-in-law was returning home by a motorcycle.

The attackers chopped him with sharp weapons, leaving him dead on the spot, the OC said, adding that they recovered the body.

The miscreants did not loot anything from the trio, he said. ‘We’re investigating whether it’s an incident of planned murder or snatching.’
