25 hurt in bombings

Dhaka: At least 25 people, including a woman physician of Dhaka Medical College and Hospital, sustained injuries as miscreants blasted crude bombs in different parts of the capital on Saturday.
The crude bomb blasts were reported from Shantinagar, Karwan Bazar, Central Shaheed Minar and High Court areas of the capital.
Mahnaz Tabassum Prova, an assistant registrar of DMCH, suffered splinter injuries as 2-3 crude bombs went off on the road while she was passing by the Shaheed Minar by a rickshaw at about 2:45pm.
The injured doctor was admitted to the DMCH.
Miscreants hurled 2-3 crude bombs at a procession brought out by local Awami League activists at about 4:30pm while it was passing by Shikhkha Bhaban near the High Court, leaving 15 people injured.
Thirteen of the injured were admitted to the DMCH.
In another incident, 5-7 people received injuries as miscreants set off two crude bombs at another procession brought out by AL men at Shantinagar at about 3:30pm, witnesses said.
Besides, two policemen— assistant sub-inspector Mahbub and constable Nuruzzaman— suffered splinter injuries as a crude bomb went off near the underpass in Karwanbazar at about 3:02pm, said police.
