Gazipur: A madrasah student was killed as he was stabbed reportedly by his one of his classmates following a conflict over sitting on the bench in their classroom at Chandana in the city on Wednesday.

The deceased was identified as Mahfuzur Rahman Miraz, 14, a Class-VIII student of MA Razzak Master Dakhil Madrasah and son of Amzad Hossain of Jogitala in the city.

Sub-inspector of Joydebpur Police Station Lutfar Rahman said Miraz locked into an altercation with Monwar Hossain Manu around 8:45am over sitting on the bench.

At one stage, Manu took a knife out of his school bag and stabbed Miraz with it indiscriminately, leaving him severely injured.

Later, Miraz was taken to Shaheed Tajuddin Ahmad Medical College Hospital where the duty doctor declared him dead.

Police arrested Manu and another student and seized the knife.
