Seven to die for killing businessman in Gazipur
A Gazipur court on Monday sentenced seven people to death sentence in a case filed in connection with murder of a businessman in 2011.
The condemned convicts are- Rajib Hossain Raju, Md Kaiyum, Rajib Hossain, Faruk Hossain, Shafiqul Islam, Ali Hossain and Mohammad Ali, reports the UNB.
The court also sentenced another accused Masud to five years imprisonment.
Besides, the court fined the convicts Tk 10,000 each.
According to the prosecution, there was an enmity between Milon Bhuiyan, son of Habibur Rahman in Laxmipura area and the convicts over money.
The convicts obstructed Milon in front of Bhawal National Park on February 26 in 2011 and hacked him indiscriminately, leaving him critically injured. He was taken to a hospital where doctors declared him dead.
Victim’s uncle Akhter Hossain filed a case with Joydebpur Police Station. Later, Police submitted chargesheet against 10 people.
After examining all the records and witnesses, Gazipur district and sessions judge A K M Enamul Haque handed down the verdict acquitting two accused.
