Dhaka: The government has formed a 10-member committee with DSCC Mayor Sayeed Khokon as it convener as part of its plan to operate bus service under a company and bus route rationalisation.

The plan is aimed at bringing discipline in Dhaka’s public transport sector and reducing traffic jam.

Local Government, Rural Development and Cooperative Ministry issued a gazette in this regard on Monday.

The other members of the committee are panel mayor of Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) and Chairman of Bangladesh Road Transport Authority (BRTA), Chairman of Bangladesh Road Transport Corporation, Chairman of Rajdhani Unnayan Kartripakkha (Rajuk), Police Commissioner of Dhaka Metropolitan Police, transport expert Dr SM Saleh Uddin, General Secretary of Bangladesh Road Transport Owners Association, President of Bangladesh Road Transport Workers Federation and Executive Director of Dhaka Transport Coordination Authority.
