Khaleda Zia’s hearing on Cumilla arson case deferred till Thursday

Cumilla: The court here on Wednesday deferred BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia’s hearing till Thursday in an arson case filed under the Special Powers Act in Comilla in 2015.

After the hearing, Judge KM Shamsul Alam of Comilla District and Sessions Judge Court scheduled the date for more detailed hearing in the afternoon. Hearing will start from the next day at about 9:30 am.

Public prosecutor advocate Mustafizur Rahman Liton and some other Awami League-backed advocates and BNP-backed lawyers Advocate Quaimul Haque Rinku, advocate Taifur Rahman and some others were present in the court premises during the hearing.

Earlier eight persons were killed and 25-26 persons were injured by setting fire on a passenger bus at an area of Chauddagram upazila of the district on February 2, 2015.

The next day, Sub-inspector Nuruzzaman of Chouddagram Police Station filed a case against BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia and 32 other leaders and activists of her party with the police station in this connection.
