Dhaka: Two accused of Zia Charitable Trust Graft case on Monday in a written application expressed their no-confidence on the judge of the special makeshift court in the old central jail in the city.

Two accused in the case - Ziaul Islam Munna and Monirul Islam - surrendered before the Special Judge Court-5 Judge Md Akhteruzzaman, after expire of their bail terms. The court rejected the bail plea of Munna and sent him to jail while extending Monirul’s bail until Tuesday.

The lawyers of the two accused submitted the no-confidence application and said they would also file no-confidence petitions with the High Court seeking a transfer of the trial to another court and another judge.

The court also rejected Khaleda’s petition seeking adjournment of the hearing until her health improves.

The makeshift court extended the bail of BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia until Tuesday after Khaleda’s lawyer Sanaullah Miah filed a petition seeking extension of her bail in the case.

Earlier on September 20, the court extended Khaleda’s bail until September 24.

The BNP chairperson is now at Nazimuddin Road old central jail, serving five years’ rigorous imprisonment as she was convicted in the Zia Orphanage Trust graft case on February 8 this year.

On September 4, the makeshift court of Bakshibazar was shifted at the Old Dhaka Central Jail to hold the trial of Khaleda in jail.

On August 8, 2011, the ACC filed the corruption case with Tejgaon Police Station accusing four people, including Khaleda Zia, of abusing power in raising funds for Zia Orphanage Trust from unknown sources.
