Manikganj: A court here on Thursday sentenced four people to life term imprisonment each for killing a woman here in 2014.

The convicts are Mizanur Rahman, Abdul Bareq, Nasir Uddin and Hasan Mia, all hailing from Boinna village in Singair upazila of the district.

The court also fined them Tk 20,000 each, in default, to suffer six months more rigorous imprisonment.

According to the prosecution, the four convicts entered the house of Sebina, wife of Shrikanta, a resident of Singair upazila and tried to abduct her elder daughter Pramitaon October 10,2014

As Sebina obstructed them the youths stabbed her with a sharp weapon. Later she died on the way to hospital.

Later, the victim’s husband filed a case with Singair Police Station in this connection.

Police arrested the convicts and they made confessional statements before the court.

Police submitted charge sheet against the four on March 7, 2015.

After examining the records and 16 witnesses Manikganj District and Sessions Judge Shahidul Alam Jhinuk handed down the verdict.
