Jhalakati: A class-X student who was seriously injured reportedly being caned by his teacher at Shouljalia High School in Kathalia upazila 12 days ago died at a hospital in the capital on Friday.

The deceased, Shuvo Howlader, son of Sanjib Howlader, was cremated on Saturday, reported UNB.

Family sources claimed Shuvo was severely caned by one of his schoolteacher for not being able to answer to a question in his class.

Injured and traumatised, Shuvo was first taken to Kathalia Upazila Health Complex, then to district hospital and Barisal for medical treatment. Later, he was shifted to National Institute of Neurosciences and Hospital in Dhaka where he died on Friday.

Officer-in-charge of Kathalia Police Station said on case has yet been filed in this regard.
